In July 2021, MOD were requested by OMC B.V on behalf of Perenco U.K. to provide positioning services for the move of the ‘Leman 27BC’ jack-up barge to a location alongside the U.K.C.S. 49/27B ‘Leman B’ platform complex as part of the Southern Hub Asset Rationalisation Project (SHARP).
The ‘Leman 27BC’ jack-up barge was a former drilling rig converted to house compression units designed to enhance the lifespan of the existing 49/27B ‘Leman B’ complex. MOD had a long history with the chosen rig going far as back as the late 1980’s, carrying out rig moves when it was known as DYVI Sigma, West Sigma, Neddrill 9, Noble Lynda Bossler and Paragon C461, before being repurposed for the SHARP Project.
The prefabricated nature of the connecting bridge and associated pipework meant that accurate positioning alongside was vital as the jack-up barge would become a permanent feature of the complex.
Working with OMC tow masters and the Perenco project team, MOD provided positioning information from auto tracking total stations ranging to MOD installed prisms on the platform that ensured the successful installation of the barge alongside the complex within extremely restrictive tolerances.
